hot wheels and popping center caps

I realize everything is new and tight and it takes a bit of wear to get everything to feel right. But I've now had it happen on 2 occasions where the center caps of my Corvette rally wheels, just pop off the rim from heat. Once was in the garage and last night they popped off while running the truck down the highway. We recovered 1 but the other we'll have to go back on the search for tonight. I've never had this happen before on any car or truck I've owned. The caps are warm to the touch when you pick them up, but not so hot that you can't handle them

Re: hot wheels and popping center caps

I've got rally wheels with the dog dish center caps. They were loose so I ran a strip of duct tape around the back of the cap. Now they fit so tight I use a brake adjuster tool to take them off.
