1970 Lowering/disc brake kit questions
Just got a 70 long bed and have been looking at replacing the front drum brakes and also lowering the truck.
1.) Is it better to spend the money on a brand new front disc conversion kit or go with used parts? New parts will last longer and should perform better but the used parts are much cheaper. 2.) I'm planning on running 20" wheels all the way around so how low should I go to make it look good? I don't want it slammed and I want to keep a level ride. I've noticed a lot of rear lowering kits have a frame c-notch kit, is that really needed? Thanks in advance. |

Re: 1970 Lowering/disc brake kit questions
If you get on ebay grunionfab has the McG front big brake kits for 750shipped. Its a steal because its a 13" rotor and complete with brackets and drop spindles. Its what im looking at using when I convert my 4wd.
To me used parts aren't always worth it, especially the wear and tear items. |

I can also get 6-lug front disc setups in standard size and 13" rotor kits so you would not have to change rear axles ( although it will slightly limit availability of some wheels) Five lug conversions available also , but you would have to something in the back ( ECE axles or 71-72 rear diff ). Feel free to contact us with any questions, have 30 years experience in doing this and have seen and done about every combo you can imagine . We can also help you with your wheel choices ..... SEE our adds on the forum ....we are more than competitive on wheel prices . |

Re: 1970 Lowering/disc brake kit questions
Cpp makes a nice drop spindle brake kit. Actually they have a bunch of kits depending if you want to upgrade to 73+ balljoints or not. If you go with bigger than stock brakes, you won't be able to put your stock wheels back on so keep that in mind.
