Shake my head, unbelievable!!

Ok so I go get my truck from the PO and it starts up but its poppin an sputterin and buckin like red rock the bull!! Now this is ok cuz he just said it would start but didnt guarantee anything else and I am ok with that as I am going to try to mess with it when I get it home. So Its home and I figure well Ill throw a tune up on it and check the timing and such and go from there so I change the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Ok so heres the first part of the WTF moments lol... Not only are the wrong plugs in it but yes folks they are... drum roll please...lawnmower plugs!!! Ok so I was looking at them going, no wonder they are all fouled and rough lookin!!! ok so get the plugs all changed out with the right plugs, get the cap and rotor on and ready put all the new plug wires on it in accordance with chevy wire routing and cylinder placement go to fire the ole truck uo and voila.... Zero fire...... So I figure what the heck, ill do the old finger on the #1 cylinder and get compression and check the rotor and Boom #2 TF moment...The rotor is pointing to #2 cylinder!!! ok simple fix, just move the wires around one at a tim and Wammo she starts right up and runs like a dream nice and smooth. I can see the rotor being off and maybe I shoulda paid more attention when I changed it all but lawn mower plugs, good grief no wonder why it was running on 3 1/2 cylinders ...lol... unbelievable

Great. Never under estimate(or overestimate) what somebody else has done. This world is filled with dipshats. I knew a guy once that drained the engine oil and then proceeded to fill the transmission with motor oil til it was coming out of the top of the tube. Ill never be surprised again

Some people need to stick to raking their cars to Tune up Masters and Jiffy Lube. Theres nothing wrong with not being able to work on cars. Its the ones that "think" they know what theyre doing.

Re: Shake my head, unbelievable!!

Some of this is farm mentality. Since they aren't down the street from an auto parts store, and the closest parts store is limited anyway, people would just use what they had and would make due. Money was probably a factor too, even though the correct plugs would run maybe $20 for a set of 8.

I was surprised when I changed my fuel filter as part of preventive maintenance, to find.... Drum roll...NO filter at all.

No, no, no you are looking at this all wrong. What the PO was after is the next phase of rat rod building, his next step was to use his ole bent up wrenches as push rods...! DOH!
