Opportunity caused by leaking gas
Hey All,
So after my new gas sending unit failed and dumped gas on my carpet, I have a fork in the road. I pulled the seat and carpet. So the opportunity I have is cleaning up the floorboard. First, any suggestions on an adhesive remover? Secondly, suggestions on what I can roll on the floorboard after I get the carpet adhesive off? There's no rust but I was thinking of a lizard skin or something else I can get at Home Depot or LPS and roll on. |

Re: Opportunity caused by leaking gas
After a good clean up, I would paint the floor with some Por-15, it will never rust again, at least not from this side. Then you could line it with Peel-n-Seal or Frost King air duct liner. These are a LOT cheaper than the more popular sound deadners. They are available at Lowes and Home Depot.

Re: Opportunity caused by leaking gas
I ended up using Kleen Strip's phosphoric acid to convert to black oxide, then mineral spirits to clean that up, and covered it with Rust-o-lium's rust cover up. I did find the Peel and Seal, and covered most of the floor with it. Thanks!

Re: Opportunity caused by leaking gas
I would have thought that the spilled gas would have aided in the removal of the adhesive! Maybe it didn't spill enough gas!
