To adapt the wiring harness, assuming the motor is from a donor, 150tunes.com does this type of work. Haven't used them myself, but saw there work on TV.

If you want to do the harness work yourself check out this web site. I used the info and it helped alot. Not hard at all and will save you quit a bit of cash for other items on the truck. http://www.lt1swap.com/2000harness.htm

Re: need help and suggestions with 5.3 vortec swap

your question has so much to cover, & I'm not in to typing, so I'll list just a couple of items, & others can chime in
To avoid a hack job.. I suggest you fit the motor before you take the cab off the frame, you will need the cab along with the fenders ( and core support) in place to locate the motor properly.

if you want stock manifolds, use the 98 to 01 camaro LS manifolds, they tuck in tight & clear the frame

Your cab fire wall will require mods to fit the trans if you use the 4L60E.

My build thread has a few pics that I hope will help, & there's alot of others on this site with very good pics of similar builds, just do a little searching

5.3 s great engine in an old truck. Love my 68 with it. Thinking about putting one in my 1950 GMC 450 firetruck. Just use the stock harness and fuse box if its there. Very easy to wire up this way.
Good luck. Jim. Also, ls1tech.com has a lot of info on the LS swaps.

The best oil pan to use is the one for a Cadillac CTS-V. The factory truck pan hangs very low in the rear. Trailblazer SS exhaust manifolds also work very well.
