NSS/backup lights confusion

Alright, so PO converted the auto column shifter to the floor and I want to put it back to original. Mainly because, they butchered the process.
I know the 2 green wires and the 2 purple wires go on the NSS. I have the green ones but where are the purple ones. and where would I most likely find them. and also how do I reverse engineer the wiring to original.

Ive looked on the forums found some partial answers but nothing clear cut.

I guess I said that right.

Might just start with the 70 factory service manual. In Section 12 page 42 you will see the NSS, the four wires and a schematic of where they run to, well actually off the page to another but you understand. If you want to reverse engineer it having the termination points, intermediate connections, colors and gauges will be of help.

They can be downloaded as workable and searchable copies here on the site. The direct link is in my signaure.

purple wire ends at the starter // i'd put my hands on it there and follow it back to where u can hook it up to the steeruing column

i am pretty sure the purple wire goes from starter to the NSS then to the ignition switch

but i am at work right now and can not run out and look

So I went out to my truck to take a gander at it, I found the purple wire running from the Starter to the firewall.

So let me say the way im thinking it and see if im right..

the one purple wire runs from the starter to the NSS and the other purple wire runs from the ignition switch to the NSS right?

I do appreciate the help Fellas, been racking my brain trying to figure it out..

Exactly, That is how it works, the starter circuit from the ignition switch runs throught the NSS and on to the starter. The NSS in park or neutral only completes the circuit and allows the voltage to the starter solenoid. This is assuming the switch is adjusted and functioning properly. Problem is switches go bad and people modify with work arounds then call it good enough. Believe me I fully support have a functioning switch.
