Considering what a pair of nos bed rails recently sold for on ebay I'd say 3k for this bed is not out of line 5k is obtainable if shipping wasn't an issue.

Re: factory take off 8' bed on cl not mine must see

I think this bed is worth $900. Tops. And that's here in Wisconsin, where this things rotted out by their fifth winter. I paid $500 for a minty box with zero rust through, and a little scale underneath, with tailgate and a nice fiberglass cap. And it was on craigslist for close to a month before I bought it.

And the ebay thing, you can't take what things "sell" for on ebay as gospel. People play games. They run prices up just to make people sell more. They run other peoples prices up to make their listed items seem more valuable. They have friends run the bidding up. They use a brand new or old account to run the price through the roof just because they can't afford it and don't want anyone else to get it. And every now and again you get two guys in a pissing match and the price goes through the roof.

Re: factory take off 8' bed on cl not mine must see

I guess our opinions differ but having been in the nos / fto game o know it was a great price. 1500 $ for a factory take off bed and tailgate. Is a good deal. Heck it didn't even last 12 hours. For those of you who can't see it was mint and complete down to original bed bolts and dual exhaust heat shields. 82 3/4 ton I'd guess. In a scoures yellow/ gold color. no dents no dings stored indoors no fade no scratches.

Re: factory take off 8' bed on cl not mine must see

New take off and NOS parts are in limited supply...most of our trucks are 25 to 40 years old.

So a new box that has been saved for 30 years is a rare item.

If it made it to ebay it would have gone for more...

I paid 2500.00 for a new take off 1980 dually box ...and was happy to get it

( It did help it was an exact color match for my truck)

Prices for new parts for our trucks are only going up....supply is limited

You can get repro but new GM will never happen again.
