New kid on the block
Hi all
Well last Saturday at a farm auction I saw a 56 chev 2 ton. turns out it was a 47. The bidding was ugly but I got it. It runs. Body in great shape, box and hoist work, minimal interior damage. Brakes are shot. I am going to get a flat deck trailer and bring it home. Canadian made serial # 7154301701. mod# 1543 engine # 11328. SO I am looking for all the brake parts and others as I start into it. Hope to turn it into my reno company truck. So far my wife does not think I am crazy. Any and all advise appreciated. I am in the middle of Sask. |

Re: New kid on the block
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I guess the first step is to get an owners manual and shop manual. Any good places for those? Does anyone have idea how the rims were made ? split rim or spring clip? I also bought an old wood burning kitchen stove. Sweety has always wanted one. The one I got is intact and not all burnt out. It needs some chrome replated. I will be for show only. SO I get truck, she gets stove. A slight hedge against" It cost How Much" Brendan |

Re: New kid on the block
Good looking out for sweetie!! As far as manuals, only place I would know would be ebay or one of the specialty auto literature places around the states or up north. One other place to check, might be over at stovebolt.com

Re: New kid on the block
I just got mine for a 50 GMC 450 from Faxon Auto literature. Do a search on Google or Bing, they'll come up. Reprint of originals, I got the owners and Maintenance manuals for good price. Good luck with the build. Nice looking truck. Jim

Re: New kid on the block
Hammering on the 'net I came across this site.
http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/index.htm#year Found the owners manual, shop manual and master parts lists. All free online. I saw some info about chev truck info Canadian made, but forgot to bookmark it. If anyone knows about some Canadian info I would appreciate it. They were made in Oshawa Ontario. In 1967 we were visiting a great uncle in Oshawa. He was in charge of the stamping plant. We tried to get a tour, but they had discontinued public tours. The same trip we saw the IH plant in Hamilton, Ontario. Pretty wild stuff for a 10 year old. |
