why not put a bed on sawhorses?
I think i saw on here recently a post that contained a warning NOT to put ones bed onto sawhorses. Why not? My bed is at the back of the property on sawhorses (on dirt) as we speak... Will great harm come to me & my bed?

I think that was the steel floor only as it will fold up in the middle. If your bed is whole and bolted together properly, I see no harm in it.

I am the one that posted that, and, here is the reason why. If you have a bed with a metal floor, it is TOO HEAVY to have on sawhorses. And, what will happen, if you have any pressure to the side, it will rip the metal part of the sawhorse, and it will fall down, hopefuly not on your foot or something. So, thats why I do not reccomend doing that. I found out for you, so no reason to prove it again. lol Hope that answers your question.

i'm confused ... isn't the bed attached to the frame by way of the bed floor ??? If it is strong enuf to hold it on the truck, why isn't it strong enuf to hold it on the saw horses??
Not trying to be a smart a$$ ... just curious. |

Sounds like he may be talking about the saw horses not holding the weight.?

sounds like a sawhorse problem to me, not a bed problem. i've got my bed on some stout sawhorses and i could tap dance in that bed right now and it would cave in. no, i won't post pics of the tap dancing.

ohhhh - I see now. Ya - those steel brackets are krap! I kinda figured that was the problem... I braced my sawhorses both ways & so far-so good - i hope to net let it stay there too much longer....
