Temperature control Lever Broken

Actually its the blower fan lever that is broken. I have a non AC system. Is there a good right up with pictures on how to replace that lever ?

Looks like there is one pin holding them all in. I must just tap it from the bottom up and vawla ?

Google it. You Tube has a great video; and the word is Voila'. It's French and pronounced vwa-lah. Levers are available from Manes:

The kit comes with such a good set of instructions that no write up is really needed.It will take you longer to do the associated stuff than to rebuild the control.Save the oil from an oil change(in your drain pan).Take the cables and soak them in it.Then hang them up by an end and let them drip out.I then sprayed some "Lock Ease"(a lock lubricant) into the cable and let it run down inside.Work the cables back and forth when you do this.By cleaning and lubing the cables,you'll reduce the stress on the rebuilt control.
I rebuilt the control in about an hour but did it over 2 days so I could paint and clean everything including the cables.

Ok, Ill get back at you if I have any questions. I just ordered one lever from lmc. Im guessing it wont come with instructions.

Does the Fan control cable go to the bottom of the heater box or where ? Down by the passenger's foot ?

My cables seem to be ok but I think the door at the bottom of the heater box by the passengers foot is goofed up.

I just leave that cable disconnected from the lever.
That door doesn't seem to make any difference.

The fan speed lever was super smooth on my 71.
Then I realized no cable was hooked up to the lever.
No prob, I just want to adjust fan speed.

Put a new-used controller in my 72.
Everything worked for awhile. Then, on a cold day, the fan lever snapped.
Had to take everything apart again to repair the lever. PITA.
I left off the cable so it just works the fan speed.

Soaking the cables in oil may help, but if there's any binding it's tough on these 40 year old parts.
If needed, you can manually operate that door by hand or with pliers.
Much easier leaving that cable off and let the lever just control the fan.

That's for an AC controller.

Check for a mouse nest in the outer blower box behind the door. Mine had one and the PO forced the lever till the point it broke. changing the lever is really easy.
