What do you do to inner fenders?

I have a set of inner fenders I may put on my truck. They are from a 1967 (my truck is a 1972) but people on this site say they'll fit.

What do you guys do for inner fenders (the undersides)? Powder coat or paint and why?

Thanks!

bedliner or undercoating is what I usually see.

This is what I used. It went on easy, and is holding up well

Flat black paint works well. It's easy to touch up.I think the ones I'm putting in the panel will get coated with DIY bedliner.

Re: What do you do to inner fenders?

I've used rustoleum semigloss black on frame and inner finders, and under the hood for many years with vary good results. I always use the rustoleum rusty metal primer, it used to be called damp proof primer. I use a spray gun. Flat black doesn't clean well, and gloss is to shinny and doesn't touch up well.(MY OPINION ONLY)

Re: What do you do to inner fenders?

Well I bought this rust inhibitor in a can from NAPA just now and a NAPA brand of rubberized undercoating, also in a can. I want to spray the frame where my cab mount bushings go and then paint. The undercoating I'll try out on the underside of the inner fenders.

I found a local place for sandblasting and I might get them to clean things up and then me just spray this stuff on.

Re: What do you do to inner fenders?

Oh boy, that does look nice! I may look into that stuff.

I bought a can of NAPA "Rust Inhibitor" and NAPA "Heavy Duty Rubberized Undercoating." I haven't tried either.

Rust inhibitor..... some kind of phosphorous acid? turns black as it dries..

Be sure to wire brush and or sand as much as you can forts.

Be sure to post a pic of the undercoating if ya would.

Re: What do you do to inner fenders?

I used a product called rocker guard, IDK is it's still available but 18 years and 78,000 miles later it is still great.
It takes a beating from rock thrown by the tires.

It may be a sort of acid as the label (and NAPA clerk) did in fact say, "goes on white and turns black as it dries." I expect to do the cab to frame bushing area of the frame with the Rust Inhibitor only and then paint over it.

I am still in the air about powder coating my inner fenders but will probably just use Rust Inhibitor and spray paint the tops and Undercoat the bottoms.

Re: What do you do to inner fenders?

My plan is to powder coat them and then Camoliner the underside to a semi-gloss finish. The rest of the underside will be Camoliner in body color.

Chassis Coat by POR-15. Lined the bottom of my '78 with it. Tough as rocks.
