How to remove door glass and vent windows on my 51

Well I have been lurking in the shadows for a while but never post but finally started my complete tear down of my 51 five window to get it ready to send to the sandblasters but I can't get the door glass and vent windows out of the doors. I have removed every screw and bolt I can find. Any one have any advice or pics showing how it is done. Thanks in advance for the help. I have changed out alot of things and worked on alot of cars and trucks but this is my first true frame off restore and already floundering.

It's not in the repair manual that I can find. I'm hunting for a small book I have somewhere in my books that may show it.

I believe that the process is remove the felt around the window, there may be rivets to drill out, then remove the wing window assembly including channel that the door glass runs in and then remove the door glass it's self. I have one out here that I need to take apart anyhow so I'll check it.

I'm not sure what exactly holds it at the bottom inside the door.


There is a screw or rivet around 1 to 1-1/2 inches back on the top door glass channel (up in the channel) that needs to come out so the channel can be pulled out so the wing window assembly can be slid back at the top to come out.

My clutch head screw drivers seem to have gone into hiding so I couldn't get the glass assembly all the way out.

I took mine out a couple of weeks ago. I just removed all of the screws and there was a nut on the bottom of the track between the vent window and main window. Then I was able to pull the main glass out and then the vent assembly. Getting it back together might be the fun part.

You have to take the bottom panel off to get to the nut on the bottom of the channel. My big fat arms don't reach up in there too well either.

many thanks to all of you. I really appreciate the help 48 and itstheshu. I will give it a try tomorrow. I did remove all the screws that 48 showed but I did not take a nut off the bottom channel yet. Will give it a go. Thanks again. Well the last bolt was the one in from the bottom in the channel. I got them out, the rest of the window frame and components came out and now my doors are ready for the sand blaster. Thanks again 48 .

No problem, now I have to get that bottom panel off my door to get to that same bolt/nut and go find a set of clutch head screw drivers to replace the set I can't find.
