New Door Hinges

Hi all,
I have been lagging on my '71 stepside, so I decided to jump back in it full bore and strip everything down. I installed new door hinges, but now the doors have to be slammed shut with the force of Thor. Any ideas on how to get the doors to act nice? Sorry for my ignorance but this is buggin the hell outta me.

Re: New Door Hinges

Sounds like they need to be adjusted outward.

It's trial and error there. Just be sure to move a little at a time because a slight movement makes a big difference.

Alot of patience helps too.

Re: New Door Hinges

depends on the problem. If door is simply too tight move striker out, like mentioned previously. But my guess is that the door was adjusted to compensate for the bad bushings. The correct way to fix this is to remove the striker all togather and adjust to fit cab by itself. Then once you have the door fitting instal striker and adjust striker till door latches nicely. If you need to adjust door up or down that is a hinge adjustment.
The only other issue I've had with a door thats hard to close is aftermarket wheatherstripes that are to thick.
