Steering Column Swap

I have a 84 Chevrolet SWB. My truck currently does not have tilt steering. I am looking to purchase a tilt steering column from a local wrecking yard as there are many donor trucks available. I was wondering what year columns would work in my truck. Is there anything that would need to be modified to make it work? I found a 1985 Chevrolet Suburban with a nice column. Would this most likely be a direct swap. Any information you could provide would be very helpful.

Re: Steering Column Swap

The 85' column should bolt right in. I used an 87' column in 83' cab.

Re: Steering Column Swap

Yep, 84-87 trucks and 84-91 burb, blazer, and crews all have the same column with the wipers and dimmir switch on the turn signal stalk so they are direct bolt on plug n play.
