AC compressor Question
just purchased a 71 blazer Original paint etc. never been restored. AC hasn't been hooked up in a while. I was going to switch out the compressor without even trying it . I was just assuming it was bad. Anyway it has some yellow factory grease pen markings on it that I might want to keep. Is there anyway to get that compressor rebuilt if it needs it. Not sure just wondering.
Anyone have experience etc. thanks |

Re: AC compressor Question
Grease pen marks? Sounds like a junk yard compressor. I don't remember anything but a Harrison sticker on my factory compressors.
But yes, the A6 can be rebuilt.

Re: AC compressor Question
Sounds like it might be the build sequence number.
It was likely "123413" (or whatever, for example) and they elected to write just the "13" on the firewall and compressor (sometimes they might write "413"). If that is the case you might find it on other components, too: hood, fenders, grille, rad support, on the diff of the rear axle, inside one of the tire/wheel assemblies, inside the seats. Anywhere where there was a component that was sub-assembled off line and conveyed remotely in sequence to the main assembly line for completion. My truck was number "87": It was built in September of 1986; VIN sequence was already up in the 300,000 range (Chevrolet only, GMC had a different VIN sequence) so my build sequence number might have been something like "345687", for example.
