New motor this time! Out with the old, in with a fresh 355. I sold the old motor as a running unit, so I'm starting from scratch! Many things needed to be improved upon since the first build, so I'm pretty excited to get it torn apart. I'm open to suggestions on anything, so let me know what you think. So far I've decided on my carb and intake combo, I'm doing the exhaust over again, (got tired of the dump pipes and leaky collectors) and im going with sort of a circle track look for the motor. I've ordered up these parts so far:

-Quickfuel Black Diamond 600cfm carb
-Weiand Street Warior intake
-Cherry Bomb 3 inch exhaust kit
-Summit distributor and 8mm wires
-Cheapo circle track valve covers and breathers
-AEM Air/fuel gauge (i'll do another write up on this later)
-Vac and volt gauge to match the rest of mine

As far as the motor goes, its nothing too special (yet) I didnt build this one, i got it from my uncle for a screamin deal. I know that it used to be in my cousin's street stock, but has been tamed down a bunch since then.
As far as I know, it's got: 882 heads, Its an 010 block, mild cam, gear drive, ARP head bolt kit, and ARP complete engine bolt set. Ill know the rest when i get it torn apart. Everything in it is brand new, its just been sitting for years...

Ill keep everything updated as the project goes on. Parts are on their way and Im hoping to get her back on the road in a few weeks. Feel free to pipe in if you've got any suggestions, questions or concerns. I want to do everything right this time!

Heres the new motor right now, im still gonna tear it apart, put all new gaskets in it and lube it up before I get it running. And i hope to clean up the engine bay a little before it goes in. Its gotten pretty messy in there since i started driving it.

swap out those regular rocker arms for some roller tips. I rum them to eas up the wear on the valve stems and little less rotating friction

Got the motor torn apart and somewhat back together. New gauges are in, still have one empty hole, but whatever. Spent the day running wire and tryin to figure out that wideband gauge. We'll see how that turns out once i get the motor goin. Hopefully i can get it back together and set in this week.

That's my plan when I get some different heads! I've got a set of roller rockers and stud girdles, but these heads still got the regular press in studs. Gotta save a little more money for some vortecs!

And thanks! I love my shop too! It was just built so this is the first time I've got to use it for a project. The only bummer is we don't have it wired yet, so no power or lights. But when it comes time to put the motor in i'll just kick my dad out of the garage where there's heat and power.

Where you have your oil and water gauges is where I have a vent. It would make me think your truck was a no a/c model but in your pic below them I see the controls so I'm confused. My truck is a later model. Don't know if the center vent was elsewhere earlier in the product line or not? So what's the story? Also, good on ya with the new engine. Should be sweet. What are your hp goals and what trans are you running?

It's a no a/c model. Those controls are just the heater controls. As far as the motor I'm not expecting a whole lot. Around 300ish. Hopefully I'll have a little more bottom end than my last motor though! Not yet anyway. Eventually I'm getting a bigger cam and some heads to replace my 80's smoggers. As for the trans I'm running an sm465 and a 205. Just bought a new 12 inch ceramic clutch too!
