Re: Here is an odd one........

I had a 70 CST parts truck that was originally a 396 with the 3 spd on the column. Not sure how rare that combo was.

396 (and posi rear) was long gone when I got it.

Re: Here is an odd one........

Friend of mine in Chicago has a '71 GTO with a 3 speed.

He ordered it that way because that's what was in his '66 GTO (which the '71 replaced) and he liked it.

During his ownership the car was stolen (and recovered). Witnesses said you could hear the gears grinding as the thieves drove away, presumably because they didn't know it was a 3 speed or didn't know how to drive it.

He still has it; original, unrestored condition except for a few localized touch ups to repair the theft damage.

Re: Here is an odd one........

that looks like fun! but where did you put the buddys? and
when are you going back for the frame?
I was also wondering what rear ratio is back there and if its been swapped to a no spin...the P.O. might have popped one in there.

Re: Here is an odd one........

I've had three shortbed big block 3spds. You could only get 3.08s with automatic. No-Spin was in CK20s and 30s (HO52/72). Did the truck come with assembly instructions?

Hoping to get the frame this weekend. The Buddies fit great behind the doors........still cant believe how nice they are. The rear end has been swapped for a posi 10 bolt (still need to crack it open and see what in there)....I also need to PU a 70 3/4 t LWB frame from a local, that one has a Dana 60 w No Spin
