first truck
whats up everyone! This is my first truck and my first post on this site, so i am not really sure how it works. I Bought the truck about a month ago with the front springs cut, and the rear ones heated up and squished down. I am looking to replace them with lowering springs but cant decide how i want the truck to sit. Is there some type of chart to reference? or should i just be looking at pictures of other Chevys?

Re: first truck
I'm a normal stance guy myself but I will not diss your truck. I value personal freedom of choice more than my own life. You'll find infinite support on this site.
It is a nice looking truck though. |

Re: first truck
good looking ride. I don't know if it helps but LMC Truck has a chart in their catalog that shows a few different stances. OR you can look around here for a while and you'll find the stance you like and then ask the owner what he/she did.

Re: first truck
Welcome... I dig the stance of your truck. Get it done correctly and that is exactly how I would want it to sit.

Re: first truck
I like the normal way they sit [like factory] but I'm sure not gonna tell you what you can or can't do with your truck it looks great. Welcome to the site the best and most helpful site on the web. I normally hang in here and the paint and body section [I have a body shop] and am normally glad to hand out advice if I have some to give. Also you need to go to the home page, on the left hand corner click on the heading tech tips and scroll down to the 67-72 section and go through it . In there you will find a lot of helpful thing and some quick low dollar fixes to common problems with these trucks. Time to go to the shop. Jim

Re: first truck
Welcome and congrats on the truck, looks great. The way you want it to look is the most important thing, that being said the most popular static drop is the 4/6. It can be done a few different ways, lowering springs and drop spindles for example. do some searching on this site and pick the best way for your budget. Enjoy that truck.

Welcome from Florida too! You can find everything you need in here. I like a 4/6 static drop myself.

Re: first truck
Welcome to the board.
I would suggest a 5/7 drop to match that stance and get it looking about like it does now (as odd as that sounds) McGaughys offers a 2.5" dropped spindle and combined with a 2" or even 3" dropped spring up front you would be about where you are now. Be careful with 15" wheels and scrub line issues, rubbing and / or front wheel backspacing when you get one that low. In the rear I would suggest a 5" dropped spring and a 2" drop block for a 7" total drop but you might be really close to the frame rails. Have you considered a mild CNotch? Going this low you will also want to look at shock relocation and pinion angle. All of the info can be found here, .. we will help you with anything you may need along the way. I promise you, setup correctly your truck will ride 200% better and handle much better. A good front sway bar will help too. Let us know when you're ready. |

Welcome! Good to see that truck found a good home, I had been eyeing the Craigslist ad for quite a while. Is it pretty nice? It looks great in the photos.

Re: first truck
Definitely looks good. I don't blame you for wanting to drop it right. Heated springs make for a bouncy rid. The way it sits now looks good.

Re: first truck
Really liking the looks of your truck.
Im guessing you would probably want a 5/7 drop with 2.5 drop spindles in the front. That's what Im doing to mine right now. My frontend should be pretty close to yours when Im done with the rearend slightly lower than yours... Atleast that's what Im going for. Great looking truck... Im sure you will have a lot of fun with her regardless what you do with her.
