The only one i ever seen mounted inside the frame was a ranger tank http://www.autosafety.org/GMAttR.pdf Take take measurements of the tank and the space you have to mount it in.Most on here a rear mounted tank like a blazer/suburban tank.

Re: 85 fuel tank for vortec motor

What PSI are you needing to run on that Vortec? Why not just run an 87 tank for use with a TBI 305 truck, then swap out the fuel pump for an LT1 350 one from say, a 93-97 Z28 or Formula? This is common for us Monte Carlo guys where we use a TBI tank and swap out the stock pump for an LT1 pump-it's a direct swap-I am 99% sure the trucks are as easy to do this with and 87 is the only TBI year for this body style pickup. The LT1 pump is rated at 58-63 psi I believe.

Just use the stock 87 pickup fuel pump control harnesses....you would use the fuel pump trigger from the ECM just like the TBI setup.
