Found in Cowl

took my cowl off to sand and paint it and put in a screen. Found this wrench and some kind of flapper door. Not sure how the flapper door got in there.. Doesnt look like it goes anywhere under the cowl, but I dont see a spot in the cab for it either.

Im going to sandblast the wrench and add it to my collection

Re: Found in Cowl

That's the AC air diverted, 70s version of recirculate. It goes in the cowl area, has a rod that screws into a plastic clip on the interior side and the other side has a rod that hooks to a vacuum actuator in the engine compartment near the air box above and right of the blower motor.

Re: Found in Cowl

That allows fresh air into the cab when the heater is on. With the heater on and AC off it is open. When the AC is on, it is closed and the recirculation vent is open on the passenger kick panel.

Re: Found in Cowl

hmm I don't see ho wit sits in there. Ill have to dig out a flashlight and the lmc catalog and see if I can piece it together.

Is there some kind of under coating sprayed inside the holes in the cowl where the tunnel for water is? Looks like mine has something there.
