Brake light dash light short

Today my brake light and dash light went out. in my 67 short bed 350 crate 700r4 checked the fuse was blown replaced it blew again I noticed when I press the brakes then pull the head light switch the brake lights go out. I further noticed the tail lights don't go on at all when I put the head lights on,
the head lights go on no problem I'm thinking its the light switch, because sometimes I pull the light switch on and after a few try's the lights go on.
any suggestions thanks to all. roy

Re: Brake light dash light short

I hear that brother I just followed the line from under the dash fuses threw drivers side interior rocker rail the wire to fuel tank and interior light, the orange interior light wire was chaffed exposed I sealed it up again, back in business. I found out that if interior light go out with the instrument cluster so will brake lights. those wires are going to have to be replaced there cracking pretty bad thanks

I noticed that 'correlation' years ago; so I figured GM designed the circuitry that way to act as a warning to alert you when brake lites were out. If not, nice lucky call for whomever designed it that way!
