What is this?

I am going through the dash and trying to fix all what previous owners have botched. I cam across this and not sure what it is. My K10 doesn't have this so I am thinking it has something to do with this K30 being diesel. I found it under the left hand side dash under the headlight switch. It was just laying on the backside of the lower dash not hooked up.

that hooks to the speedometer in the instrument cluster 85-86 models had that your cluster must have been replaced before

I am about ready to tear the cluster out here in a day or two so I will see what is there. Everything seems to work except the oil pressure gauge but that is an easy fix. The "water in fuel" light stays on all the time. I suppose that is why the PO pulled the bulb out. That might explain why I didn't see it on my K10 since I have not had the cluster out of it. Anyway I will check that out. Thanks.

Bringing this back to the top. It does screw into the back of the speedo but what is it. The part number is 25007327 but I can't find it when I google the number.

Re: What is this?

It's an optical vehicle speed sensor that reads the vehicle speed via the speedo.

It's used by the cruise control

Re: What is this?

Is that the one that lets you know you are going over the speed you set?
