B80 Drip Rail Molding?
In another thread, B80 Drip Rail Molding became the topic.
I have a GM "Chassis and Body Parts Catalog" for Chevrolet Trucks 1946-72 Dated May, 1979. I ordered the parts book through the local Chevy dealer in about 1981. In the RPO section, page 69, no RPO B80 Drip Rail Molding is listed. I don't have an assembly manual, or A GMC parts book. Years ago I had a friend with a 1967/72 GMC with drip rail molding at the time he said it was a GMC option. leddzepp says jeremiahking has an original 1969 GMC with the RPO B80Drip Rail Molding listed on the s.p.i.d.. I'm wondering now if the option was a GMC RPO. I'm sure somebody has info on this. Please take it from here. |

Re: B80 Drip Rail Molding?
I have the parts book, too, but haven't checked if other parts we know are factory are listed as replacement parts. The first part that comes to mind to check is radio antenna. Not sure I've seen those listed.

Re: B80 Drip Rail Molding?
Drip rail molding was discontinued after 69 because of the poor attachment system it employed. The dealer fix was to use screws or rivets to hold it in place, originally they were interference fits onto existing drip rail. It is very rare and even more rare to see still on a truck. The repops are a pain in the butt and take more work than they are worth to make fit using the stock attachment system. Jerry brown and I had this discussion several years ago and when he used it then he was using epoxy to hold it in place.

Re: B80 Drip Rail Molding?
I have a N.O.S. set,but don't know if it's GM accessory or not. Been on the fence about ever using it once I started seeing rust issues pop up with that area. It would have to be a strictly show truck

Re: B80 Drip Rail Molding?
I sold an all original, 72 Cheyenne Super to a kid in St. Louis in 1988, and he wanted to add drip rail molding. I had talked to Jerry Brown about the molding before that so I told him to contact Jerry. I never heard how that worked out.
