Re: What mufflers are you running on a big block engine

Right now I do not have a big block but this is who I would recommend.

http://thecoffinmuffler.com/

I plan on putting these on the small block in my 67. I am also going to be running these on my Blower Motor in my Corvette Coupe, and the Street car Corvette Convertible. These flow better than the flowmaster, have great sound, and are very affordable.

I hope to order and install them on my truck in the next couple weeks. Just waiting on getting the rest of the new exhaust to bet it to exit behind the rear tires.

I love the sound of a big block through 40 series mufflers, but it would be pretty loud inside!

I've got 3" DynoMax on my 502. Not terribly loud and sound great.

I second the DynoMax mufflers, I originally put on 40 series Flowmasers with 3 inch exhaust and Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers on the 468 in my 68 and to me they were too loud and sounded like burnt out glasspacks.

I had a pair of dynomax mufflers on an S-10 with a built 355. They sounded fantastic and I'm considering them for my C-10.

I have the stainless magnaflows behind a stockish 454, and I would agree with a previous comment that they pretty quiet.

None.

Just kidding, but like the sound of open headers on a big block.

Hooker aero chambers! I have 40 series on one big block and flow big block mufflers on another, aero chambers on 383 and love the sound no drone, still sounds "nutty" and runs like a raped ape.

Re: What mufflers are you running on a big block engine

Just put series 40's with 2 and 1/2 inch pipes behind existing long tube headers this past Thursday. I let a muffler shop talk me into stainless magna flow type last year and was not happy with the sound. Just my .02 cents but nothing sounds better than flow master mufflers. I'm also running the same setup on a small block. I'm extremely pleased with both.

Re: What mufflers are you running on a big block engine

I'm currently running the flowmaster 40s. They sound great at idle, but they sort of give up the muscle sound when your on the gas. I would like to try the dynomax ultra flow 3" in and out mufflers. I think they the 16" long ones. Heres a 496 with them.

Re: What mufflers are you running on a big block engine

I just got two free nearly new Flowmaster 42443s in a deal I made. But I have heard that they are LOUD outside and inside the cab! That concerns me because I was going to install these with the new 350 next year and i like to hear my radio while driving.

Re: What mufflers are you running on a big block engine

I picked up my 71 Big block GMC from the muffler shop this afternoon. Stock manifolds with Flowmaster 40's 2 1/2" tailpipes out behind the wheels. I love the way it sounds. Not too loud, just throaty.
