Need help in Tennessee

I was hoping you folks could recommend a good place in Clarksville, TN to install a new engine in my 86 K10? I would love to do it myself, but I am deployed and won't have the time when I get back. The second half of this is what vendor has a new 350 I can pick up for the truck since this will be my daily driver? Thanks.

Re: Need help in Tennessee

First off thank you for your service.
I personally own three of these trucks and only one is gas. I also own a 72 El Camino and both my gas truck and the El Camino have crate motors. The best bang for your buck as well as quality is the Jegs motor for about $1300 delivered to your door

Re: Need help in Tennessee

This is the closest I could find. Will it work in my 86 K10?

Re: Need help in Tennessee

Now the big question remains, is there someone in Clarksville, TN that anyone would recommend to install it while I am gone?

Re: Need help in Tennessee

One thing to make sure of is that you get a new flexplate with that engine. Being an 86 you have that hybrid setup where you have a one piece rear main seal right now like the 87-up motors, but a top end like the 85 down motors.

That engine is designed as an 85-down direct replacement with the 2 piece rear main seal and takes the older style flexplate you do not currently have. It will take your current intake/valve covers/etc as noted above if you want to re-use any of that.....

Every 86 I dropped a crate motor in, I'd switch the intake and distributor to the older style just to get rid of the computer. Simple is better.
