Temp Sensor
Hi all,
I ordered part numbers ATM-2259 and ATM-2277 from Summit and have installed them. The gauge started to read the temp but then goes kinda haywire and jumps around a bit. Also, when I turn the truck off it sticks in place untill I turn the car on again. Did I use a wrong part or something? Thanks, Ben |

Temp moving around, could be an air bubble in the system yet? Not sure on the guage stick....could be in the guage, or elect system. You should have had only 1 wire to hook up, (to the sender). Is the end crimped or soldered tight? I cant say how those pcs work, as far as proper read on the stock guage, but used em on mine with the Autometer short sweep guage. No issues, Longhorn

Is there a certain way to fill the engine with coolant besides through the radiator to keep air bubbles out?

It wont get em all out.....but I filled the block, through the top rad hose pipe on the water pump. After that, install the top hose, & fill the radiator
 She still burped up a few bubbles, running with the cap off. Do you have the steam line run to the top of the waterpump, or into the top hose (either should work) ? longhorn

Besides what was mentioned; the 2259 is listed as being for "short sweep gauges 1995 and newer". I think if you were doing it for a later model gauge, or adding an aftermarket gauge it would be correct. I think in this instance its resistance sweep isn't listed, but I could imagine it isn't the same as stock.
Why can't you use the stock temp sensor with one of the other adapters they, or one of the other retailers sells? Summit, Autometer and S+P all have a variety of them.

now that the thing is running, the temp gauge sees to be holding without any problems now. Didn't get to play with the truck this weekend :-(
