Control Arm opinion
I have a set of 71 and a set of 86 upper and lower control arms for my truck. The 71s came with the short frame I bought and the 86s from a parts truck. I am trying to decide which ones to use. Either will get rebuilt before installation. I was thinking the 86s for better ride and newer technology?

Re: Control Arm opinion
The 86 arms will theoretically ride a bit better. They will definitely be cheaper to rebuild though, that's not up for discussion.
Just be sure and use ball joints that match whatever spindles you're gonna use. |

Re: Control Arm opinion
My truck has a newer model cross member with the 73+ 1 1/4" disc brakes. I just got done rebuilding them and the total was somewhere around $250. I used MOOG parts for everything, including bumpstops, lower and upper arm bushings, new brake pads and new ball joints. I think as long as you keep everything the same, you will be fine. TXFirefighter helped me out a ton when I needed to figure out what front end I had. He also helped me pick out the parts I needed to lower it and replace everything. Shoutout to TXFF!
