63 Burb E brake cable
Hey guys I need the cable that goes from the handle in the cab back to the cables that attach to the brakes.
I bought a truck cable from LMC but it is too short. Any ideas where I can get the proper cable? Thanks

Re: 63 Burb E brake cable
It's about 7' long, it does have U shaped ends and a pin.

Unfortunately it's too short, thanks for the offer though.

Re: 63 Burb E brake cable
Hey Mike, how's the truck coming? I can't help with the cable, but I'm just wondering why the truck & sub are different? I always thought that the truck & sub frames were the same. ie: without the body shell, they are the same? are you sure the length difference isn't between 2wd & 4wd? I could see that. When I got my truck, the e-brake was actually working, and complete, so I never had to replace any parts.

Sent my 62 GMC 4x4 Suburban E-Brake cable to inline tube, they built me a new one, fit perfect.

Otherwise the truck is coming along nicely. A few small mechanical things, new window rubber except for the windshield, it's already done. Rear tailgate latches for top and bottom. Install seat belts and paint. I'm going to order Vintage Air, tomorrow. I've been driving it quite a bit, it's a blast to drive.

Re: 63 Burb E brake cable
Mike, The WB for all the suburbans matched the shortbed pickups, but it seems to me the e-brake setup might be different from 2wd to 4wd because of the transfer case. Do they list a 4wd cable at all? Was all the linkage still in place on yours, and not changed from stock? I've seen some cobbled up stuff before.
My truck's still out at Tony's in KC, so I can't measure mine, but our trucks are the same exact thing. You think about asking him about a cable? He changed the body shell on mine, there was just too much rust to justify the repair of my original body, and he had a nearly rust free one. In the long run it will pay off, but it became a lot more project than I had originally hoped for. Nice to have it down to the bare frame, though, it'll be new from the ground up. You running that camper yet? -Ed |

Re: 63 Burb E brake cable
Hi Ed, good to hear from you. I did send Tony an email yesterday. He showed me your Burb when I visited him in July. I also contacted Inline Tube yesterday, either they'll have one or can make one if Tony doesn't have it.
I took the camper on a couple trips this summer, it's parked for the winter now. The Burb will be too soon. Don't need any road salt on that baby.
