Licence plate light question

I have a DUMB question regarding my licence plate light, I removed the licence plate bracket and repainted it and then put it back on and now the light doesn't work, I replaced the bulb and still not working , I did check the wires, and they seem fine but I am in the dark( NO PUN INTENED) any idea's THANKS

If you repainted you are not getting a good ground. You have positive going to the bulb but you have lost the ground at the housing to complete the circuit.

I agree with no ground. You will have to put a scratch in your shiny new paint to get a ground back and then you will see the light...

X2 or run a ground wire if that is possible.
