New Ignition Cylinder Help- 77 Chevy
Hi everyone,
Well this last weekend was a hard one. My Grandfather passed away from complications from Phenomena. He has been sick for quite a while and his quality of life has been very poor for a while now, luckily he went peacefully and very quick. I am sad, but I know he is in a better place and is no longer suffering. Well on top of that, while my grandpa was dying in the hospital thieves broke into his house st night/sunday morning, stole his trailblazer, TV, Guns, Jewry, and other stuff. I live right next door and I did not hear anything. Well they also stole all of his keys including the keys to his 77 Chevy but they did not steel it. I have removed the battery and done a few others things to make it un drive-able. So my question is how do I replace the lock cylinder? I ordered a new one and it should be here in a couple days. Everything I am reading says I need a key in order to replace the cylinder. Is this true? Should I call a lock smith and have them do it? If i dont need a key, is there any good how too's or walkthroughs that I am missing that explain how to removed the cylinder? everything I keep finding is not very explanatory. My dad and I want to try to get this truck to a safer location and we are planning on restoring it once we are done with the 69 pickup we are restoring.

Try searching for c10 column rebuild, it gives a run down of basic tools and whats inside the column. It just takes a bit of time. Don't stress friend, sorry to read about the above.
