It's been a while
Well I haven't had time to mess with my trucks or get on the forum in a really long time but here is what I have been up to for the last couple of months now.

Re: It's been a while
Sorry about the cell phone pics. It's pretty much my only camera. I have in progress pics of the shortening process on the blue truck for both the chassis and the bed but I'm hesitant to post them because of some of the comments I have seen critiquing other peoples methods. I've been at this for around 23 years though so it's safe and will go down the road straight. The brown truck I did in one afternoon alone so I was too busy for pics and as you can see I found a trailer built out of a pretty rough but rust free stepside bed and used that rather than shorten the original bed. The short fleet beds exist around here but I could buy a whole longbed truck for what they want for them.

Re: It's been a while
I have seen the stuff posted before and always welcome it, I may give it a try some day myself, some people are purists but hey its a free country.

Re: It's been a while
You ought to post some step by steps, i'm noticing you did a really good job on the paint too.
I have no problem with people shortening beds and frames on their rides, i do feel that if ya sell them you should disclose it to the buyer tho. Some people just want a nice looking ride.

Re: It's been a while
Thanks guys I work by myself in my own shop so when I'm on a mission I often forget to stop and get step by step pics. I have a few though of the blue truck in progress. I'm getting ready to build the brown one frame up with a pancaked crossmember and enough rear notch to get the chassis about an inch off the floor with bags deflated so I will document that and the body and paint.

Re: It's been a while
Ok starting to work on the 72 now. I pulled the cab and front group and shortened the chassis last night. This is just going to be a driver and the bushings etc are tight and the brakes are recent so im just going to clean and paint the chassis and add power steering and power brakes. The truck was originally a 250 6 3 speed. Its getting a 72 402 I have and a th350 or 700r4 depending on what the rear end ratio is. Its also getting boss 338 wheels in 22x9.5 rear and 20x8.5 front grey and polish finish.
