Rear disc brake pic's please

I have searched and have come up empty. The kit that I bought has zero instructions and there could be a couple different ways to mount the rear brackets ( inside flange or outside flange) instead of doing it over a few times I thought I might check to see if anyone has tackled them on a stock axle and see the set up.
Thanks

Who did you buy the kit from? I'd be expressing my concern to them that there are no instructions or calling tech support at the very least.

Obviously but I would call first thing tomorrow and not risk installing something incorrectly.

I would have thought that those round tube spacers on the caliper bracket would have gone against the backing plate flange to achieve correct alignment with the caliper and rotor.

Yep, that was my mental dilema this morning too. The way they are supposed to mount is the last way I tried them. PIA mounting everything over and over when its been -10 here and every part you pick up is -9.

I'm missing some cable peices from the kit , but can fab them up from local hardware store, I will email the seller for a "use" list on the rotors and calipers for you and have him send the missing stuff so I can swap it out later.

That looks like the same kit I was considering - Auto City Classic. Please give us a full report on how this goes, there is not much about them on this forum.

Re: Rear disc brake pic's please

Cap i think you're right looks to me like the brackets are on the wrong side ( left bracket on right end of axle) there should not be near that much space between the caliper and the mounting bracket with new pads ...as the outer pad wears that gap gets bigger and it looks like it will run out of travel and only the inter pad will be working....i would say that gap is just slightly bigger than the spacers on the mounting brackets where it bolts to the axle ...those spacers are there for a reason and i don't see any reason for them as mounted

Re: Rear disc brake pic's please

They do look backwards, but will not mechanically or physically allow the caliper to mount up to the rotor if swapped. When mounted this way, rotor spins true and by hand. If swapped, the caplier crashed into the rotor and will not mount up correctly. I have no idea why the spacers are welded to the bracket other than to cause grief to the installer.

Re: Rear disc brake pic's please

I had put several thousand miles on this kit and had to install a 2lb residual valve in the rear line. I also found that adjusting them by ratcheting the park brake several times once a week helped keep pedal pressure up. They do work well once you work the bugs out. It comes down to leaving drums and no worries or fine tuning a rear disc set up for better stopping power. I ran a non booster system for a better feel and it would throw you throw the windshield before locking up. You really had to to try to lock them up even under hard panic stops.
