68 SWB aftermarket crossmember question
I can get a deal on one of these...'below' but before i make the drive and spend the cash.....quick question...
It says for a 5inch drop or more... my new rear springs will be a 4inch drop... i have a one piece driveshaft, 3inch in diameter... WILL THERE BE AN ISSUE with the clearance with NOT having the 5inch or more drop?? Thanks! |

Re: 68 SWB aftermarket crossmember question
It's basically a copy of the ECE trailing arm crossmember.
Wish I could help but I have never used this product. I prefer the round tube design that www.porterbuiltfabrication.com sells.

Re: 68 SWB aftermarket crossmember question
I've used the ECE x-members & they allow about 3/4" additional clearance vs the OE x-member.
For reference, my 68 was about 7-8" of rear drop (bags bolted directly to the frame & T/A's + 1.5" lowering blocks). I didn't have any clearance issues w/a 1pc shaft (3"OD) & the OE x-member. I've got my current 64 set-up w/the ECE x-member, front Porterbuilt Dropmember, PB 3" dropped T/A's, & again using a 1pc/3"OD OE driveshaft . I had to increase the height of the ECE unit 2" to keep from interference @ full drop.
