Headed to St Louis to meet Ozark Tim and pick up a longhorn

I am headed out Sat to meet Tim and pick up a 72 longhorn. Look forward to meeting him in person, this is the 2nd truck I've bought from him. About a year and half ago my sis and bro in law went out and picked up a Big block truck I got from him. I'll try to get some pics and post them Sun when I get home. Hope the weather goes through so I have decent roads to drive on

Where at in STL? I am 20 minutes west of STL on HWY 70. Could meet for a minute to check it out. I know a guy here that has 15-20 trucks he is parting out if you need anything.

Re: Headed to St Louis to meet Ozark Tim and pick up a longhorn

Thanks Tom, Dale, Scott, and Tom!! 5 1/2 hour one way trip, kind of crazy for a parts truck

Martyb11, Headed to Oakville. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to have much extra time, I would love to stop and visit with you and look at his truck parts. I will check with my co-pilots and see what they say though

Thanks Randy

martyb11, I'll talk to them and see. I seen there was a guy in St Charles that had a new set of fiberglass step fenders worth the money. I don't need them though, but they are the right price

Larry, Thanks, I'm hoping its gone through by the time I get there, I'll be going through Columbia 2:00-3:00 hopefully

oklalawnboy, you betcha, lol

Thanks Randy

Thanks Joe, Tim has always been fair with me, I wish he was a bit closer since he finds trucks pretty often, lol

Thanks Jeff, if it looks like its going to be treacherous I'll postpone it, not worth getting in accident

Thanks Randy

Sounds like a great reason to do a winter road trip. Looking forward to the pics.

And just like we all hope for, drive safe.

Re: Headed to St Louis to meet Ozark Tim and pick up a longhorn

Thanks guys, they are saying rain turn to snow 2-4 inches last I heard, Sat. I will going through Columbia around 3 probably then into St Louis around 5 if we are lucky. Surely 1-70 will be clean by then. You Missouri guys know any websites I can go on to check current road conditions? Thanks Randy

Re: Headed to St Louis to meet Ozark Tim and pick up a longhorn

that whole stretch of I70 won't be getting much of any snow. Plus MODOT always keep that highway clear. I drive rear wheels drive BMW's back and forth on 70 every year with no problem. Even if we were to get 4-8" it would be cleared very quickly...

I'm never afraid of driving in the snow and ice, its the idiot that's going too fast crashes and closes the highway for 4 hours you have to worry about. We cancled our trip to stl this weekend and we have a jeep.....

Heh, Got it. I'm from NE Ohio so snow and ice are normal. Just winter. Here in North Texas, people seem to think gas and brake are binary--on or off. Or, 5MPH is the speed to drive if it gets cloudy.

Well now I am going to try Sun the 29th, it will be a real quick trip (if a 5 1/2 one way can be quick) lol. I'm going to plan on leaving around 5 in morning and be out there late morning and back on road after that. We will see what weather does though

Probably a good thing.
With the weather and crazy I-70 drivers, combined with a bunch of crazy Christmas shoppers,... you are better off staying home.
