Re: a few pics of the stepside current

I have a question.. How do you handle driving that much awesome?

I've always been into 4x4 but I'm starting to be pulled in by the 2wd scene. looks freaking fantastic!

Re: a few pics of the stepside current

Is that a '73 grill in a 78-79 front end? Sorry I'm new to these trucks but that's my favorite grill and mine needs to be replaced. My stepside should be that low soon (:

Re: a few pics of the stepside current

What do you have for wheels and tire sizes under that thing ?

Looks like 10s in the back with 295/50s.

Re: a few pics of the stepside current

txfirefighter, its got cragar 10's in the rear with 295/50/15 bfg radials and the front is on cragar 8's with 245/60/15

i chose them cause they were almost the same heighth as the rear.

i got the wheels all 4 for free, the rear tires for 10$ almost new and the fronts brand new for 175$ lol.

its an 82 with a 78 front clip. 78 grille just sanded and repainted.strips too.

as far as the lowering, im not exactly sure what it is. im putting money back to get an actual kit or right parts to do it. i kept cutting coils here and there to get the stance in the front then dropped the back with a block. welded in a bolt on c-notch kit and boxed it. i need to put 3/4 ton springs up front being as low as it is. it clears ok and never rubs or grinds anything, just a bit soft on speed bump.and cause it has a healthy 454 waiting

I'm not a real big fan of dropped trucks, but that is cool with those wheel & tire combo. That's the wheels that really fit these trucks for looks!!!

Re: a few pics of the stepside current

The reason I like this truck so much is that on any Main Street in Texas back in the 80s, you saw ones like it being driven by the working man. The fat tires under the back, lowered down with a nice rake just screams nostalgia to me.

It was like that in Alberta too,I was one of those guys driving one too!! I guess that's why I like the old school look so much is because it's timeless.Back to a simpler time before cell phones, computerized crap on everything, etc.

Re: a few pics of the stepside current

im only 20, born in 1993. But i do not like the big wheel and small tire look. maybe i picked it up from my dad.i am the same way with 4x4's. i like a little bit of side wall to it.
im a new school aged guy but i love all the old school stuff. 15" cragars with 295/50's and raked a hair.
i imagine some people like it and some dont, but ive never received a bad comment and it gets compliments every time i pull into a store or gas station.
still got a carbed sbc in it with a lopey cam and a 4 speed. i love the hell out of it.

everything so far that ive done to it has been decided and influenced by this site and the cool and knowledgable folks here.

its getting brand new brakes all 4 corners and wheel bearings up front, and better suspension, same stance though. ac/ heater and a radio. hopefully able to take it on some trips.

thanks for all the interest and if anybody likes something on it lemme know and ill get ya pics and info on it.
