Re: whats it worth
Are you looking at buying one for yourself, or selling one?

Re: whats it worth
Pictures would be nice. $1000 up I'm sure. My dad got a good deal on my 47 and payed $500 for it. 16 sets of doors an extra cab 15 hoods an extra rear end exc. most of that stud was no good but the truck alone is worth more than that. Condition matters though

Re: whats it worth
Not only is condition a factor, but supply and demand must also be factored in as well as the price of scrap..
What is the supply of these trucks in your area. do you still see plenty of them in use? Are they plentiful sitting in fields, barns, back yards or junk yards ect. What is the demand for a truck in the condition of the one you mentioned , are there a lot of people looking/ wanting them? In my area scrap is bringing $10.50 per hundred lbs this is what they pay you and I when we haul it to them, you can bet they are only paying 2/3 to half of what they get. 3600lbs @ $10.50= $378.00 3600lbs @ $15.00= $540.00 In my area these trucks dried up 20 years ago. and what is left is pricey if it is half decent, even parts trucks are spendy.. Of course there is always a bunch of hacked up half finished projects with more parts missing than there are with it but those sellers are usually in them head over heals and expect a kings ransom... You will also need to factor in how bad do you want it? A good rule of thumb, If you buy it, a better deal will come along in the next few days! If you pass on it, a year from now you will still be looking and kicking yourself for not buying it! Last edited by 67GMCkid; 12-14-2013 at 05:13 PM. |

Re: whats it worth
I couldn't have put it better than 67GMCkid did. That should be the stock answer to anyone asking a "what's it worth?" question.
Condition, location (what part of the country or world) Title or no title. To me no title knocks 50 % off the value of a truck as compared to an equal condition truck with a clear up to date title. The scrappers have pretty well knocked us out of getting the 50 or hundred dollar or "ah hell just haul that thing off" trucks that we used to find on a daily basis 30 years ago. Now it only seems honest to knowing the going scrap price and offer a bit over that as your opening offer.
