Newbie first post
Hey guys,
Been looking at this site for a while, looks like a great place to look and learn. I've been searching on and off for a couple years, and it looks like I have made a deal on a 67 GMC Stepside, straight six, three on the tree and partially restored. I'm trading for my Harley and some cash, pretty excited but don't know anything about what I am getting into, other than looks like a great hobby and a truck I will enjoy as a daily driver. I had an old school mechanic and a body shop look at the truck, and they like it. I plan on asking lots of questions and looking for advice here, first two questions being where do I get what I need to finish the wooden bed, and where do I start fixing the windshield wipers, the motor works, that is a starting point. Thanks! |

Re: Newbie first post
Nice truck! And welcome!
There are several places to get parts to finish the bed. There are vendors on this forum to start with. Check with people to see which suppliers provide the best quality parts for that application. Not all are the same quality and /or fit right. For the wipers, if the motor is turning, look through the cowl (right in front of the windshield) and you should be able to see the shaft turning as well. it is connected to a rod and that is connected to some arms. The arms are connected to the bottom side of the wiper spindles. From there you should be able to see what is going on. mike |

Re: Newbie first post
welcome to the site and nice looking truck
heres a pic of what 72supermike is talking about. the wiper mtr is inside the firewall in the centre and you can just see the arms (inside the square holes below the windscreen opening) going left and right to the wiper stauncions -check the operation of all that that grille on top of the windscreen wiper arms is held in by phillip screws abd fairly easily removed
