67 GMC shop truck
I've been looking for a few months and a few months ago ran across a original owner 67 gmc. Straight 6, 3 speed short bed with a big back window. It's not perfect but it will make a great truck to run around town chasing/delivering parts.
My dad and I don't see eye to eye on much but I invited him on the 1200 mile trip to get it. We had a blast. Stopping in Bishop, CA for lunch each day. Summit racing on Saturday and a few odds and ends along the way. |

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
That is great. Welcome to this site. It is great that you get to include your dad, I got my shop in 1987 when I was just a kid. sometime in the later 80'slate 88 or 89 he started coming by to see what was going on. One time I had just had a load of wrecks unloaded and he wanted to help on the tear down. he had no auto back ground other than working a little on his farm trucks. He had a blast on the tear down then he couldn't wait to start putting back together. He said it was like farming to him tear down was like planting a crop and putting together was like harvest. Well today he is 84 and still is waiting every morning for me to pick him up from his house [we car pool to the shop]He still loves the tear down and hanging fenders and bumpers and will wear me out on a daily basis if I'm not really on the ball.He still will grab a Silverado loaded bumper and take out across the shop or like yesterday we were gonna put on a tailgate for a HD Silverado, he grabbed it and started to put it on by himself. I said dad stop. Your NOT 70 anymore you have got to be a little more careful. That makes him mad cause he thinks he still can work like he did when he was 70 or so. And that was like a mad man. !5 years ago around him changing out a bad frame , he would make you holler mercy. Jim

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
Looks like you got a lot of tongue weight on that trailer. That Dodge is squatting.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
That was my first thought too, move that truck back a foot or so and it will relieve the strain on the poor Dodge.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
The point I was trying to make before getting sidetracked is that if you get to work with your dad it is real awesome also frustrating as all get out at times. The only thing better is if you have a child old enough to help on a project.I got to have my son and my dad for almost a year at the shop.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
Thanks everyone. I'm late to post all this but work has been so busy and I haven't done much with the truck in a month or so. We took it and cruised the coast a few weeks back. Had some rear end issues. So I figured since I'm pulling it out to rebuild it I might as well static drop it. So that's been the last 2 days fun.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
Body color rims with the caps that came on it cleaned up. Then leave
It as is with emphasis on good mechanical.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
I'd use the rallyes with the wheelcovers for a wider stance.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
I really don't like how the 255/60 looks in the front wheel well. The 275/60 in the back looks great. But the front kills it for me.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
You can go with 15 X 8" 4X4 rims and the have best of both worlds.

Very cool truck you have there. That's an interesting blue/green? color. Definitely haven't seen too many in that color.

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
Finally got the GMC back together. fired it off and with the rebuild on the carb, it ran so smooth. a few starts and stops to make sure everything was good and no funny noises were going on then it was time for a christmas day cruise on the coast.
Jumped out on the road, went from 1st to 2nd and somewhere in the middle the linkage or trans decided it did want to go. So after 5 minutes of wiggling and pulling it finially went back into 1st. I guess its time to rebuild the column. |

Re: 67 GMC shop truck
Love it, it's a nice shade of green I so badly want to take a road trip out west and bring something home, just seems like it would be a blast.
