71 Chevy swb barn find

I've been chasing this truck for ten years and finally got my hands on it. It's a 71 swb straight 6 three speed custom 10 11600 miles 2 owner.

Re: 71 Chevy swb barn find

All the pictures I have right now more to come! I will prolly be doing a v8 swap in the future but am leaving the original paint for as long as I can. I've added the ralleys and that's all that's been done as of now

Not a bad looking truck man, love the patina
Only thing I'd change appearance wise is the Side markers the Deluxe Sidemarkers look a lot better

The only rust is the bottom right fender from the battery and the right rocker. Has a couple dents.

Re: 71 Chevy swb barn find

Excellent truck! That has a nice patina. If you can keep it dry that can be a great look just as it is. I'd probably run that six until I had the exact drive train ready and waiting to trade places. You would probably regret the loss of gas mileage with the swap though. If you have a good quiet exhaust on it, most people wouldn't even know you have a six. And they can be quite peppy.
Great truck either way,
Congrats

Re: 71 Chevy swb barn find

I would leave the six for awhile. But it's burning a lot of oil and the water pumps out.

Darn, I was hoping you were going to swap the engine/trans and slam that nice original truck.................... would have made the remaining survivors that much more valuable.

Congrats on barn find!

When I say I'm goin to keep the six I mean I'm not goin to scrap it or anything. I think I'm goin to do a 350 or 327 with a turbo 350 or 400. Not real sure yet.

Re: 71 Chevy swb barn find

I really don't know but I woundnt think it would be that much better. It's not goin to be a daily driver so I'm not to worries about the gas mileage.

Nice score. Bring that thing up to the Crawdad Days Show in Harrison May 17th. You might win part of that $5,000 cash.

Has that one been on the street much? I've seen one when I go through Marshall, but I think it was two tone.

Is that your green and white one on the south end of town?

Holler at me some time.

Thats a beauty. I agree with the idea of leaving the six and that patina is perfect. Im a huge fan of the factory paint stripe too!
