69' 350 oil canister conversion
Where do I get the conversion piece for my 1969 350 so that I can use the regular oil filters and do away with my canister? I just bought me a 1969 3/4 ton 4x4 with 60,000 original miles from the original owner and I thinks it is time to at least make that upgrade.

ANY SPEED SHOP, OR A REAL GOOD AUTO PARTS STORE SHOULD HAVE IT. YOU MIGHT EVEN WANT TO CHECK J.C.WHITNEY, OR MAYBE SUMMIT RACING. I'M SURE SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE ONE. BTW, I THOUGHT CHEVY DID AWAY WITH THOSE AFTER '67. I HAVE A '67 IMPALA WITH THE CANISTER FILTER, AND I GOT THE ADAPTER AT A SWAPMEET FOR 5 BUCKS. IT TAKES FRAM # PH8A, WHICH IS THE SAME FILTER FOR MY '89 CROWN VIC 5.0, WHICH IS GREAT, CAUSE I BUY MY FILTERS IN BULK THROUGH MY JOB.

trucks continued with it til 69 or 70. It was considered the "heavy duty" way to filter oil if not the messiest way to change oil. I know guys that actually convert back to these canister filters. They appearently flow better. I wouldn't know.......just been told this.

i am keeping my canister, it does flow better and filters better than the 'regular' kind. they aren't that messy to deal with, but can be a pain cuz they hold heat. ow burned knuckles!!
