Narrowed rear or not

Ok guys, I'm sure it's probably covered here somewhere, but I will ask anyway. What is the widest wheel/tire combo that I can run on an '83 ( on the rear) without narrowing the frame? I would like to run a 18x12 , just hate to spend the money now and find out later it will not fit. Any help - advise is greatly appreciated.

Eastwood has a tire/rim simulator for like $150. It allows you to play with back spacing, tire height, and tire width.

So if you wanna run the widest things possible it would $150 well spent.

You can run a 12" wide wheel on the truck without modifying the frame or moving suspension, but would require widening the wheel tubs. Anything past 12" , would require moving the suspension inboard, along with the widening of the wheel tubs.

On a stock wheel tub, stock frame / suspension location, a 10" wheel would be the widest.

Edit: I realized I forgot to answer your questions on tire size. On a 12" wheel, I typically recommend a 335 tire. When running a 18x12 though, most 335 tires are going be 26-27" tall.
