Tilt Steering Column Question.
I want to replace my steering column in my 72 GMC with tilt steering. Could someone tell me what all applications will interchange. What year and different trucks, Vans etc.

Re: Tilt Steering Column Question.
Hey. Good question. I'd be interested too. Also if any one knows what would carry the factory steering wheel that would be good to know as well. In do know if you're not worried about the factory steering wheel u should be able to use something from a little bit newer trucks like 73-84. But at some point they started putting the ignition on the column. I've heard of guys using ones out of older chevy cars too but not sure of makes or models. Of course there are plenty of companies that have direct bolt in kits like LMC and Brothers. Good luck, and maybe someone more knowledgable than me will chime in.

Re: Tilt Steering Column Question.
I'm really interested in hearing some experienced, expert comments on this too.
Tilt steering columns, No ignition cylinder columns. What years, What GM donor vehicles would work Best for direct, hassle free (or minimal) bolt-in to 67-72 Chevy / GMC trucks.

Re: Tilt Steering Column Question.
The Van tilt from '72 till early '82 will fit. I is approximately 2 1/2 inches longer. The intermediate shaft can be collapsed to compensate for that. You can search for posts of this. After mid '82 the van tilt has the key in the column.

Re: Tilt Steering Column Question.
And I forgot the neutral safety switch has to be moved also. Here's a link to that. The wiring plug mentioned above can be adapted.
