Re: Shop Truck

Nice looking ride. Would you care to list the stats on it? Wheel and tire specs, drop/stance, etc. Thanks

Re: Shop Truck

It's time for some up grades to the truck. The engine leaks oil so everything under the hood is always dirty. One of those engine compartments that you do not show. I have had the truck for over 30 years, I have 6 sons and most of them have driven the truck to high school and college. They have all moved on so I have gotten my truck BACK!

When I hear SHOP TRUCK I don't think of a truck as nice as yours. You must have a REALLY nice shop.

Re: Shop Truck

This is my run around truck. I'm a plumber and a fireman. Parts getter for the plumbing company and I usually drive the Chevy to fire calls and my training meetings
One of my up grades is going to put my logo for my plumbing on the door kind of an old time look.
When I was growing up my dad owned a gas station called Oil City, I have even though of using our old station name and logo.
Would like to drive the truck to speed week at the salt flats this coming fall

Re: Shop Truck

I agree you have a very nice shop truck. It is amazing how the right wheel choice and stance changes these trucks. Also, I like the look with the big back glass compared to the slider.

Re: Shop Truck

I ordered rear disk breaks to day. When I installed my wheels they would not sit flat agains the drum on the back axle. The drum has a ridge running around it, some areas are machined off in spots for balancing this caused the wheel to be just a crooked. So had to put a flat washer on each stud to hold the wheel away from the drum just a little bit.
The disk brakes are going fix this problem.

What's the deal with the slave cylinder setup? Did you make the bracket?

Re: Shop Truck

This tranny is a t45 out of a 2001 mustang. I'm doing my own hydraulic clutch. The purple slave cylinder in the picture I got from speed way motors along with the master cylinder and a couple of other small parts for less than $100. You can buy a kit already made up, but they cost close to $500. The only thing I still need is a hydraulic hose that I will get a measurement for when every thing is set in the truck. They cost around $20.

Well the bell housing only fits one motor. Infact the bell housing is part of this transmission does not come off. It only fits the engine I am using a 4.6 double over head cam 32 valve motor. They make about 300 hp and should get 20 miles to the gallon.

Re: Shop Truck

Not to hate on your build, after all I'm a man of many brands, but why the ford motor? Did you just have it laying around?? I love the mod motors. hope to put one in a deuce one day but I think this one will be an odd duck. btw a t-45 is a 5 speed.. t-56 is the 6..

Re: Shop Truck

I believe the T56 is the the same tranny as the T 45 but it has a changeable bell housing.

I wanted to do something a little different like a Northstar out of a caddy but every body I talked to about it did not like the northstars said they were not a good motor. But the 4.6 same size motor was a great motor. And I had one. And my other car is a super charged 65 mustang fastback. Thought I'd slip it in and no one would know. Oh and my other car is a 69 mustang convertible. But i love my chevy truck the best. Confused?

For new year eve spent a couple hours making the plates to fill the holes for the gas filler, stake holes, and heater hole in fire wall.

Re: Shop Truck

I like the whole dare to be different thing, but I've seen the ford mod motors have just as many issues as the northstars over the years. And I'm a GM guy for life, so

And a T56 trans is a 6 speed, the T45 is a 5 speed.

Re: Shop Truck

Nice job on the filler panels... I need to get a plasma cutter, it looks like it made the job a snap!
