Bench seat adjustment
It will be a miracle if my wife doesn't leave me since I have become obsessed with tinkering with this newly acquired truck. The PO told me the seat needed adjustment. Turns out the seat was not bolted down at all, so I removed it and removed the (I'll call them mounting brackets). I am in the process of cleaning them up and will probably paint and lubricate them so they slide easily. The bench seat has broken springs and is missing some foam, so I may take a stab at that as well.
My question is, the lever that you use to move the seat works fine, but there is a rod that goes from the drivers side to the passenger side that makes each locking mechanism release so you can move the seat. The rod is bent (I think it is supposed to be) and it connects on the passenger side fine, but it looks too long or something to be connected on the drivers side correctly, and just slips out of it's grove. I have attached a couple of pics, hopefully someone can tell me where it is supposed to connect. I did order a factory service manual yesterday so I don't seem like such a dummy, so in the mean time bear with me and thanks for any input. This forum is fantastic, thanks! |

Re: Bench seat adjustment
The very last photo shows the drivers side and where the rod was just resting, does not appear to have any way to keep it in place, so only one of the two mounting brackets releases...

Re: Bench seat adjustment
Boys you will be proud of me....well maybe not, but I figured it out by looking at some old posts. The PO had the rod on backwards (drivers side on passenger side and vice versa). Flipped it over and it works like a charm! I'm learning!
