My 1974 K5

New to the K5 world , been looking for 70-75 K5 for 4 yrs now . Joined a few different K5 sites . My budget was low , so I was limited on what I could buy ( $4000-$5000) So as many know not a lot of K5s at that price . Also K5s are hard to find around the south . I found this one , looks rough , but it runs and drives , has a 305 ( he kept the 350 ) , needs steering work , and brakes . I got it for $1500 , so I have some money left over !! Time to start spending some cash !!! The fenders and rear quarter panels are NEW , he just never painted them , so body is good !!
Next to COME !!! ARE Brakes ,steering ( has new gear box ) , new 4 in lift , new rims , and tires . Then I will do all the rest in time . I want to drive it and work on it . Not work on it 24/7 .

Re: My 1974 K5

Good luck with it. I've started the search for a nice square body Blazer also. There are a lot here in Colorado, but most are way rusty and overpriced. Looks like you have a good start.

Re: My 1974 K5

THANKS !!
Its stock and needs TLC . Going to fix rust in floor ( only rust in it ) then rino line the inside floor , seat covers for now . But is all there , dash is cracked , I will replace one day . Gauges look good . Just a stock inside of a 1974 K5 . Rear seat is nice but dirty !

NOT MY PIC ..... But I am going to tread plate the rear walls , minus all the speakers . I love the tread plate look inside the K5

Re: My 1974 K5

Most K5s around here were $4000 -$6000 , only 5-6 with in 400 mile drive . All drove but needed work and all had some rust . I am shocked I found this one . He was asking $1700 OBO on craigslist . It was 4 hrs away . I think the guy could have got A LOT more out of it IF he would have said in ad , NEW fenders and quarter panels , he said " replaced " Then if he would have primed it one color . I thought because the fenders look old , I thought they were off a different truck , they are brand new , he just never primed them . The body is very straight , NO rust but between the seat and door . Can be fixed easy !!

Re: My 1974 K5

Round here I looked for 8 months solid. Cut n pasted n saved every blazer and jimmy craigslist posting for all of that time. there were some with WAAAY worse rust than that where they were asking $5k - $6k in this area. of course i'm not sure if they ever got that.

Re: My 1974 K5

Worked about 5 hrs on starter !! Then I just gave up !!! Then I find out there are 2 starters for this truck !! So I go to auto store and buy the other one '. Will it fit ???? No one knows. . I rolled the dice !!!! I get home , it bolts up !! It starts up like a new truck now !!! Also it was low on all fluids , also worked on steering stuff . Wires hanging EVERYWHERE !! Taped , redid some , fixed all the lights and side markers, fix blinker cam inside steering cloume . 2 solid days of messing around . Then I drove it all over town tonight !! Wow , it's runs and drives great !!
Still needs lots of work , but very happy !!!!
Also found out I am the 3rd owner , 70,000 original miles

Cleaned up loose wires

Looks like a good start! I love the fully convertible top. Not sure how much the previous owner robbed of your heater, but if everything is missing you might want to look at a Vintage Air kit. I just put one in mine and love it.

Ok, I'm jealous now. Your all-spring lift is making my junkyard score look like junk! Looking good!

Did you get their $900 under-dash kit? It looks tempting.
