What leaf spring hardware to use?
I'm replacing my front and rear leaf springs on my 70 K10 with a 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift and need to replace the spring bolts. I have new U-bolts with the kit, but I'll need new front and rear leaf spring bolts and shackle bolts. I'm wondering what to use for replacement hardware? Is the bolting that LMC sells anything special, or can I just buy grade-8 bolts at a hardware store? What have you guys used and what do you recommend? Thanks.

Re: What leaf spring hardware to use?
Come on now, I know many of you have replaced leaf springs. What hardware did you guys use and where did you buy it? Did you buy the bolting from NAPA, LMC, online somewhere, a local spring shop? Any help is appreciated.

Grade 8 bolt, lock washer, and jamnut from the local hardware store (they sell them by the pound). I ensure that the shoulder of the bolt is long enough to go through the entire bushing sleeve, even if I have to trim the overall length once installed.

Re: What leaf spring hardware to use?
Grade 8 all the way. I would use the all steel locknuts (as opposed to the nylon insert locknuts) Little bit of locktite never hurt anything either!!

I had to cut everything so I don't know sizes. Any ideas?

Check out this website. http://www.huskyspring.com/
The listing has a couple of options. Call them, they are easy to deal with.

Re: What leaf spring hardware to use?
It looks like mine are 9/16" by about 4-1/2" long. I heard that some could be 5/8" bolts. I think I'll do like Lowrollin70GMC says and get them from a local hardware store. A lot cheaper then buying them from LMC or spring company. Grade-8 too.

Quote:
9/16 center bolts are not used on common light vehicle springs. The bolts you buy from a spring shop are fully threaded so they sell you the next longest bolt to what you need and you trim them shorter after installation. I just bought a pair at my local spring shop this week for 3 dollars each.

Re: What leaf spring hardware to use?
I am referring to the rear spring eye bolts and shackle bolts. So far this is what I've found:
http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index....ducts_id=16134 http://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/p...-1442-211.html I just measured my new leaf spring eye bolt holes and it looks like 9/16"
