16" 6 lug factory rims ? Question

Anyone heard of an optional 16" factory wheel for a c10 or k10 that was offered by gm?? If so, how wide were these rims 5.5" or 6" ?? Or other? I have been told that larger rims were a factory option. I have seen some before but maybe they were an older vintage that happen to fit thanks erik

What year rims ? These are the early 16x5 3 clip rims used up to 1963. These were replaced by the "nub" style that are also 16x5 used from 1964-1970. These were offered on C10 and K10.

Re: 16" 6 lug factory rims ? Question

My '62 came with these 16x5 6 lug with the 3 clips to hold the hubcaps. As far as I know they are factory wheels.

Re: 16" 6 lug factory rims ? Question

These are the ones I went with on my rims, not correct for '62 but I love the look! Think they are '55-'59 hubcaps. They were also correct for '60 I believe but smooth, no ribs.

Re: 16" 6 lug factory rims ? Question

My first ever c-10 had 3 piece rims. 6 lug 16 or16.5". That was a long time ago so I dont remember for sure. What I do remember is the truck was a 61 and the tire shop wanted nothing to do with them.

Like these 16" from my '65 c30? I haven't seen these in 6-lug style before. No need to be afraid of these as long as you clean them up well and assemble them correctly. Finding a shop that has even seen one before is a trick unless you are way out in the country. The good news is that they are pretty easy to DIY. Just be sure that you wrap the wheel/tire with a stout chain before airing them up just in case the lock ring isn't seated just right.

...ned.

I really like the three piece rims. Ive got a set of 8 lug 15 in three piece rims. I would like to find a set of 16 in 6 lug two or three piece rims. you can mount a really heavy tire without stretching the beads. I have been fixing split rims for more than 40 years. you need to be careful when fixing them. and if they are not on good condition you scrap them.

The old 3-piece wheels have the right look for a '60s work truck when you mount up a tall narrow tire. But finding the right tires is increasingly hard. STA is pretty much the last man standing in this market.

I want to use then on my trailers. I can get 15 and 16 inch 14 ply lowboy tires that hold 80 pounds of air. most of my trailers have the chev 6 lug pattern hubs. My tilt top trailer has heavy 14 ply bias lowboy tires mounted on 15 inch split rims. I found a source for a 6 bolt hub bearings ect. that will fit on a house trailer axle. Ive replaced the 14.5 tires Dayton rims & hubs. if the 14.5 tires state for mobile home use only their illegal to use on a utility trailer.
