Wondering...

I was just wondering as I watched my 2 year old Grandson playing with his trucks.. What will they be putting in these trucks for engines? Will they ever know the sound of a small block turning 7000 rpms?

Re: Wondering...

not unless they get into old metal. What they will hear is the pathetic, pissy whine of a rice rocket motor--and think that's power--that's torgue....imo.

Re: Wondering...

Who knows? The "hot ticket" may be a new fangled hybrid or something weird like that.

Re: Wondering...

We are taking the 18 month old grandson with us to pick up a parts truck tomorrow. He is already crazy about these old trucks and cars.

He will hear a small block ! I am having it built for my truck now. I was looking at the new engines with all the electronics, and sitting sideways in the engine bay. I hope there will be an aftermarket builder/supplier for engines just as there is for big and small blocks now.

Re: Wondering...

Unfortunately, with us reaching "peak oil", I think the trend will be towards full electric or hybrid electric w/ diesel supplemental power. IMHO the only way traditional gas engines can continue would be if a cheaper and sustainable ethanol production model can be developed. Currently theres too much profit in staying on fossil fuel for "big oil" to put too much effort into this (for now). With that said, the Audi R18 LeMans racer with the V10 TDI is a bona-fide animal that sounds freaking awesome........and won alot of races!

My $0.02

Re: Wondering...

Electric motors with decals on the side like, kilowatt cams, zzzzap wheels, with products sold on tv like extendo charge. For only $19.95 you can extend the charge of your car batteries by up to 5 miles.!!! But wait, theres more....call in the next 60 seconds and receive a second one free.!!! Only pay additional shipping and handling charge.

ethonal/methonal will never be a cheap replacement for gasoline. That has been proved many times over in the last 70 years. Unless oil is just absolutely banned by every country on earth.
