Question Front disc's

Who has the Boss 338's and slotted drilled rotors installed? I bought a set a while back but the hub was way to big for the wheels. I sent them back because they guaranteed them to fit with no mods.
Does anybody have them and if so who did you get them from? If I have to I'll turn them down I guess.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Front disc's

Are you saying you returned the wheels or the rotors? The rotors have nothing to do with the Boss' not fitting, the Boss' were not made for these trucks but I understand that the newer ones will now fit, someone else can verify this.

I want the rotors. The wheels are fine they work great. The hub of the aftermarket rotor was twice the thickness of the stock rotor. I want a set of drilled and slotted rotors for it.

What disc brake kit do you have? All the normal sized disc brake kits I know off use the OEM 1971 and up rotor.

Mine is all factory 71. All I did was paint the calipers red but they are 72 caliper's.

Re: Front disc's

maybe the wheels were just boxed wrong and shipped out to you. Might sound like a stretch but that's the way I'm hearing it... Just a thought...

Re: Front disc's

There's a super long thread on this site about Boss' not fitting (they hit the rotor snout) but were supposed to be changed to fit.

Wink Re: Front disc's

Guy's I know all about the Boss thread. I posted in it several times. I also know there are 2 sizes of rotors also in that thread. I also know that the aftermarket rotors I bought looked huge, I talked to the sales rep for over a hour telling him what wheels I had and all the info I could give him. The rotors were way to big hub wise when I got them.

My rotors & wheels
The wheels would fit but you couldn't install the cap thats it. With the rotors I ordered they wouldn't even fit the opening of the wheels. I thought the same thing when I sent them back that they some how placed the wrong ones in the box but after calling and talking to them they were the correct rotor they said per their markings.

I just want to know if some one has the Boss wheels with a slotted and drilled rotor with a name are part number I can try. That's all.

Re: Front disc's

Slotted and drilled rotors will be the same as you have now just slotted and drilled. If someone sold you rotors with a larger hub then they sold you the wrong rotors.

I don't think this is correct.
I have seen several rotors that were different sizes right at the end of the rotor hub.
I think it has to do with the differences in spec of overseas manufacturing.
(low priced chinese junk)
I guess they think it doesn't matter how much meat they put into the rotor hub,... but it does with these specific wheels.
I usually try to buy the higher end rotors. (American made if possible)
OEM GM rotors seem to be the best, but they are long gone.

No matter which rotor you buy,... there will be grinding involved on the rotor hub to fit the Boss 338 wheels,... unless you have the light duty 81-87 rotors, spindles and calipers on your truck.

Re: Front disc's

I would contact these guys.
http://brakeperformance.com/brake-ro...s.php?did=4138
I now prefer dimpled rotors instead of the drilled rotors.
(less likely to crack, supposedly)
Plus I also prefer a coated rotor.
Zinc or otherwise.

Thank you sir. That's all I wanted was some one to recommend a company. Have you ordered from them before?

Yes I realize I will have to mill are grind the rotor down to make it fit.
Just didn't feel like doing it after the guy insisted there's would fit.
