Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

You got real lucky Bob if you found a good CUCV front bumper AND a grill guard for $25.00. Prices are usually a bit higher than that. If you can wait until the spring show in Aberdeen there are some bargains that can be had there.

A really good guy, shipping cost might hurt though.

I second this assessment and he is my major source for these parts

Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

Have you considered a whole truck for parts? One missing front axle are often not very expensive. Their are a lot of auctions on east coast. I got mine for $1200, missing some small stuff like; radiator, alternator, windshield, brake caliper and it had low mileage, national guard truck. I got ones wo/ drive train, missing some body panels for $200-300.

Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

Bob,

Those prices are unreal!! I bought mine at Fort Knox, KY and Brainerd, MN.
Did both a truck and blazer, my son has both of them know. On the blazer took several parts blazers and made one. Could not do that at those prices.

Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

Pics of my "free" M1008 in 2009.
My how times have changed, this was a live GSA auction in 2009. Wound up buying a non running M1010 for $200.00 and a non running M1008 for $600.00. Resold the M1010 without leaving the place for $1000.00 so in reality got an M1008 for free!

"live" GSA auction, Bordentown, NJ, that had 16 CUCVs among its 181 listings! Got to go, inspected them all before the auctions, here's the results of most of them:
86 M1008, 41K, steel cap, runs and drives $2000.00
86 M1009, 25K (125K) rusty rockers, runs and drives $1800.00
86 M1008, 46K, new or rebuilt engine, runs and drives, no cancer, good cab, no tailgate, $1700.00
86 M1008, 39K, troop seats,no cancer, horrible repaint (peeling), runs and drives $1800.00
85 M1009, 88K, major rust in floors and rockers, new exhaust, runs and drives, $1100.00
84 M1008 with communication shelter in back, bad cab corners, floors rotted, runs and drives, $1800.00
86 M1008, 98K, major cab rust, runs and drives $1100.00
86 M1008, 40K, new canvas top, troop seats, new tires, new engine, new exhaust, minor cab corner rust, good interior, doesn't run (we'll see about that soon) $600.00
84 M1010, 45K, runs and drives $1200.00
84 M1009, 95K, driver rocker rust, runs and drives, $900.00
86 M1008, 43K, runs and drives, no cancer but sideswiped passenger bed side and passenger door, $1700.00
85 M1009, 61K, brand new exhaust, no cancer, runs and drives, $1700.00
86 US Army K30 Crew cab SRW, 6.2L auto, no rust but many colors with CUCV bumpers and grill, does not run, $300.00
84 M1008, 47K, manual glow plug circuit, rusty bed side, runs and drives, $1100.00
85 M1009, "shows" 4K, some rust, new tires, runs and drives, $3100.00
86 M1008 40K, High Steel Cap, brand new exhaust, very good condition, runs and drives, $2500.00
85 M1010, 44K, non running, $200.00

NOTES: got the SF97s ON SITE, no $60.00 fee, no buyer's fees, no surcharges of any kinds. Plus you could pay for with a credit card. All but 3 ran through the auction, however some were VERY rusty and some not.

Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

I kind of like the SmittyBilt bumpers. I know they're for Jeeps, but they can be modified.

They aren't terrible pricey either.

Not too many CUCVs at live GSA auctions anymore though, most are on-line only.

Re: CUCV rear bumper and front brush guard

Those jeep bumpers would have to be widened a good 6 inches to cover the truck tho.If you got the money http://www.buckstop.biz/chevy-gmc_80s.html http://www.trailready.com/bumpers/gm_88-99.html
